Department of Medicine Terminal Leave Policy

Departing or retiring faculty members who are in good standing and provide at least a 90-day notice will receive payment for up to 360 hours (45 days) of accrued annual leave at their MUSC compensation level. This 90-day notice period associated with a resignation or retirement may include some use of accrued vacation leave at the discretion of the Division Director, and in the case of a Division Director’s resignation or retirement, the Chair. Terminal Leave of no more than 160 hours (4 weeks) of accrued annual leave may be used during this 90-day notice period at the discretion of the Division Director or Chair.

Faculty who do not provide the required 90-day notice prior to resignation or retirement will not be eligible to use vacation leave during the resignation notice period.
